The photo that made you want Dubai — the tall, deep-red dunes glowing at golden hour — that's Lahbab. Roughly 50 minutes and 50 to 60 km from the city, where the sand turns iron-oxide red and the dunes climb 80 to 100 metres. This is where we run.
Most budget tours never get there. They stop at the flat, golden dunes of Al Awir, close to the city, because it's quick and cheap. It's a desert — but it isn't this one. No tall red walls of sand, no real dune bashing, no landscape worth the photo.
We built Desert Thrill around the real thing. The dune bashing, the sandboarding, the sunset photo stop — all of it happens on the Lahbab red dunes. A proper desert safari, not a short ride over flat sand.

Open Desert Quad Biking
Take a quad out onto the Lahbab red dunes and ride it yourself. A lead guide runs ahead, setting the route and the pace, and you follow in your own machine so you get the good lines without guessing where the sand drops away.
This is open desert, not a fenced loop. Most quad listings in Dubai are priced for a marked practice area close to the city, where the ground is flat, and the circuit is short. We run where the dunes actually climb, on the same red sand as our buggies and safaris.
Choose your ride time. Thirty minutes is the quick hit and a good add-on when the day is already full. An hour is what most people pick - long enough to get comfortable on the controls and cover real ground. Take a single seat if you want the machine to yourself, or a two-seater if you would rather share it and split the cost.
Every session opens with a full safety briefing, and gear is included. The minimum age to drive is 16. If someone younger wants to drive, the shorter quad ride offered at Lahbab during an evening safari runs on easier, controlled ground and has no such limit — ask us, and we will point you at it. Hotel pickup is not included on quad sessions; add it for AED 200 if you would rather not drive out yourself.

Common questions about this tour
Open desert. We run on the Lahbab red dunes, roughly 50 minutes from the city, where the sand climbs 80 to 100 metres. Most quad listings priced under AED 150 are for a marked circuit on flat ground closer to town. That is a different product, and it is worth knowing which one you are looking at before comparing prices.
Every duration and seat option is priced above. Two things move the number: how long you ride, and whether you are on your own machine or sharing a two-seater. A two-seater split between two people works out cheaper each than two single seats. You will also see quads advertised from AED 89 elsewhere - that is the fenced-circuit price, not open desert.
Single seat if you want the machine to yourself and full ride time. Two-seater if there are two of you and you are happy to swap the driving - it costs less per rider than booking two singles, and on the hour there is genuinely enough time for both of you to drive properly. Only the person at the controls needs to be 16 or over.
The minimum age to drive is 16, the same as our dune buggies. All drivers sign a standard waiver before setting off, which covers safe operation and makes the driver responsible for damage to the machine. Desert vehicles cannot be insured, so no operator in Dubai can offer cover for them. If someone under 16 wants to drive, the shorter quad ride offered at Lahbab during an evening safari runs on easier, controlled ground and has no such limit. Ask us, and we will point you at it.
No. Every session opens with a full safety briefing covering the controls, what to do and what not to do on sand, and how the convoy works. A lead guide runs ahead, setting the route and the pace, so you are following a line someone else has already read rather than picking your own. Most riders are on a quad for the first time.
Not on standalone quad sessions - those start at Lahbab Desert. Hotel pickup and drop-off can be added for AED 200 at the time of booking, or you can drive out yourself and arrive 15 to 30 minutes before your check-in slot. If you book a quad ride as part of an evening desert safari instead, pickup across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman is already included.
