Take the wheel yourself.
Self-drive a 1000CC Polaris across the Lahbab red dunes — 30 minutes, an hour, or a full two hours. Two-seaters for couples, four-seaters for the whole group.

AED 700

A dune buggy in Dubai is the one desert activity where you do the driving. A guide leads the convoy out to the dunes and you follow in your own machine — a 1000CC Polaris, after a safety briefing and with gear issued. Self-drive, but never on your own out there.
There are two machines to choose from. The two-seater suits couples and solo drivers who want the quickest, cheapest way onto the sand. The four-seater takes a whole family or group of friends in one vehicle, which is why it usually ends up the better value per person despite the higher price on the tile.
Every ride is bookable at 30 minutes, one hour or two hours. Thirty minutes is enough for a first taste of the dunes; the hour is the one most groups settle on; two hours is for people who already know they like this and want to be properly out in it.
Book by the vehicle, choose your ride time at checkout.
Buggy time plus dune bashing, the camp, dinner and hotel pickup — in one booking.
Standalone buggy rides start at Lahbab Desert and do not include transfer. Hotel pickup and drop-off can be added for AED 200 during booking — the market standard is AED 300 — or you can drive yourself and arrive 15–30 minutes before your slot.
Book a buggy as part of an evening desert safari and hotel pickup across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman is already included, along with dune bashing, the camp and dinner.
Every driver signs a waiver before setting off. It covers safe operation and — importantly — makes the driver responsible for the cost of any damage to the buggy. Desert vehicles cannot be insured: insurers do not write cover for self-drive machines on dunes, so no operator in Dubai can offer it. Drive within the briefing and it is a formality, but we would rather you read it here than meet it at the dunes.
Prices are per buggy rather than per person, and depend on the machine and how long you ride. A two-seater starts lower on the sticker, but a four-seater split between four people usually works out cheaper each. Live prices for every duration are listed on this page and on each buggy's own page — nothing here is an estimate.
Both are 1000CC Polaris machines running the same dunes with the same guide, safety gear and briefing. The difference is capacity: two seats versus four. If there are three or four of you, the four-seater keeps the group in one vehicle and costs less per person than booking two two-seaters.
The minimum age for drivers is 16. Younger passengers, typically from 4 to 10 years, can ride along with an adult driving. All drivers sign a standard waiver before the activity. It is not recommended for pregnant women or guests with serious back, neck or heart conditions.

Same 1000CC Polaris, same dunes, same guide. The only real question is how many seats you need — and the answer changes what you pay each.

Every price on this page buys the whole machine for your slot, however many seats you fill. A four-seater at full capacity works out cheaper per head than a two-seater — so the bigger buggy is usually the better value, not the bigger spend.
Not on the standalone buggy rides — those start at Lahbab Desert, and hotel pickup and drop-off can be added for AED 200 when you book. If you book a dune buggy as part of an evening desert safari instead, pickup across Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman is already included in the price.
At Lahbab, the red dune belt roughly 45–60 minutes from central Dubai. The sand there is the deep red the region is known for, and the dunes are big enough to be genuinely interesting to drive rather than a flat practice area.
Your ride time, the guided self-drive experience, a full safety briefing and all safety gear — helmet and goggles — are included. Bring comfortable clothing and closed shoes, plus sunglasses and sun protection. Valid ID may be required. Personal expenses and gratuities are not included.
Yes, and it is usually the better-value way to ride if you also want the rest of the desert day. The combo packages add dune bashing, the Bedouin-style camp, dinner and hotel pickup around the buggy time, for less than booking a safari and a standalone ride separately.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your start time, for a full refund. Cancellations inside 24 hours are non-refundable.
