A dune buggy in Dubai lets you take the wheel. A guide leads the convoy out to the dunes and you follow in your own machine — a Polaris RZR XP (2-seater) or RZR XP 4 (4-seater), after a safety briefing and with gear issued.
There are two machines to choose from. The two-seater suits couples and solo drivers. The four-seater keeps a family or group of friends together in one vehicle. Compare the live price and available seating before booking.
Choose a 30-minute, one-hour or two-hour ride duration at booking. That is driving time; allow additional time for arrival, the safety briefing and the return to the meeting point.

How fast and how far (this answers the "slower and shorter than expected" review)
- In 30 minutes you'll usually cover about 7–8 km of open dunes.
- The lead guide in front sets the pace. Want more speed? Just ask. Our guides now adjust the pace to make the ride more fun, as long as it's safe for you and the terrain. Overconfidence in soft sand is how buggies roll over, so the guide always has the final say. That keeps you safe, and it's why the ride can feel more controlled than people expect.
Who can drive: drivers must be 16 or older. You don't need a driving licence. Passengers must be 5 or older.
Before you drive: every driver signs a short waiver. Desert buggies aren't insured, so, as with any short rental, you pay for any damage you cause to the vehicle. Follow the lead guide and you'll be fine.

Getting there
Standalone buggy rides start at Lahbab Desert and do not include transfer. An optional private hotel transfer is available for AED 250, both ways; confirm the total before you reserve. You can also drive yourself and arrive 15–30 minutes before your slot.

What you're signing
Drivers must complete the waiver and follow the safety briefing before setting off. The waiver applies to self-drive equipment, including buggies and open-desert quads. The applicable waiver and booking terms explain the driver's responsibility for damage. Read those terms before booking and ask the team about anything that is unclear.

Why are some buggy rides cheaper?
Check the driving minutes, the engine and what's added at the dunes. Ours includes 30 minutes of driving, a lead guide, a safety briefing, a helmet and goggles, fuel, VAT and water, with nothing extra to pay at the desert.
Do I need a driving licence?
No. Drivers must be 16 or older and sign a waiver before the ride. Passengers must be 5 or older.
Can I add a buggy to a desert safari?
Yes. On our evening safaris there's a stop before dune bashing where you can add a buggy or quad on the spot.
What should I wear?
Closed shoes, a scarf for the dust, and sunglasses. If you don't have sunglasses, we provide goggles. We also provide water for the ride.
Can you do a dune buggy on a desert safari?
Yes. Our evening safari combos add a self-drive buggy to the full safari: hotel pickup, dune bashing, the camp and dinner, all in one booking. You can also hire a buggy on its own at Lahbab if you only want the drive.
Should I get a 2-seater or a 4-seater dune buggy?
Get a 2-seater for a couple or a solo driver, and a 4-seater to keep a family or group together. Both are the same Polaris RZR XP on the same dunes with the same guide. Buggies are priced per buggy, so a full 4-seater costs less per person.
How much does a dune buggy cost in Dubai?

Who can drive the dune buggy?
The minimum age for drivers is 16. Confirm passenger eligibility with the team before booking, especially when travelling with children. All drivers complete the applicable waiver before the activity. It is not recommended for pregnant women or guests with serious back, neck or heart conditions.

Not on the standalone buggy rides — those start at Lahbab Desert. An optional private hotel transfer is available for AED 250, both ways; confirm the total before you reserve. Where do the buggies run?
At Lahbab, the red dune belt roughly 45–60 minutes from central Dubai. The sand there is the deep red the region is known for, and the dunes are big enough to be genuinely interesting to drive rather than a flat practice area.
What's included, and what should I bring?
Your ride time, the guided self-drive experience, a full safety briefing and all safety gear — helmet and goggles — are included. Bring comfortable clothing and closed shoes, plus sunglasses and sun protection. Identity proof is required. Personal expenses and gratuities are not included.
